UPDATE MAY 8TH, 2005

Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers. I thought I would update everybody on what has been happening the last few days. I finally started feeling much better on Saturday and back to normal today. Last week was not much fun but I am still very fortunate there are many out there a lot worse off. I had a little nausea a lot of heartburn and had to go on an antibiotic for unknown infection, kidneys not getting enough flushing I guess. I have lab work on Monday and an appt with surgeon on Tuesday for Surgery on Thursday to have port put in. Spent weekend landscaping with the help of my dad and stepmom. Went to dinner with my brothers family, my mom, and Amy. Ate too much.. and I am still kicking cancer's ass.

Jason I am glad you are feeling better. I made a copy of your web pages to give to my dad and mom so they could keep up also. This is great for you and all of us that want to give you all the support you need. I hope you had a good day. Take care and I'll talk to you soon. All my thoughts and prayers are with you. Jason,

My name is Eric Wiedower and I am one of Zach's best friends. He told me of your recent diagnosis and battle with cancer. I find it extremely courageous and admirable with your "on-line journal," if you will, describing your battle and informing others on what to expect with different treatments and so forth. It is people like you that help others learn and cope with their battle, as well as to reach out and visit with people going through the same journey as you. Your work will help inform others and ease their fight as well. I am a pre-med student at the University of Kansas (GO JAYHAWKS!!) and will be a camp councilor at a camp put on by the American Cancer Society this summer for cancer patients and survivors. I am eager to share your story with these campers this summer. I also will be living in Wellington this summer with nothing to do, so if you need someone to sit through a treatment with you, give Zach a call and I would love to come to Wichita with him and sit through a treatment with him and you. You are giving lots of people hope, and if there is anyone that can kick cancer in the rear, it is the damn hard-headed BARKER family. I will continue to follow you and your battle and will pray for you.

Fellow Crusader and surrogate son of K-dub Renee,

Just wanted to let you know how much your being with me on Mother's Day meant. Thanks for coming (I know my wonderful turkey was the big draw!!!). Next time, though, you can't come unless you bring Mallory and Avery as we missed seeing them. Gotta love all the little girls!! We love you, Jason, and are continuing with our prayers for you. You know we will always be there throughout the duration. Thanks so much for sharing my special day with me and our family. Don't worry, whenever there's food involved, you'll be invited! P.S. Don't forget to get us bracelets - Don and I will be waiting for ours!
